About Theridion zonulatum Thorell, 1890
Theridion zonulatum Thorell, 1890 displays clear sexual dimorphism in body size, similar to its related species: females are notably larger than males. Female body length ranges from 3.30 to 4.01 mm. The female abdomen has distinctive black coloration marked by transverse white bands, forming a zebra-like banding pattern on both the dorsal and lateral sides. Females have legs with dark, ring-like markings called annulations. For female specimens, the cephalothorax measures approximately 1.02 mm in length and 1.04 mm in width, while the abdomen measures about 2.31 mm in length and 1.57 mm in width. Males are considerably smaller, with body length ranging from 2.17 to 2.28 mm. Males share the same coloration patterns seen in females, including the characteristic transverse striping on the abdomen and annulated legs. This species has been recorded in India, China, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia, with Indonesian records including the islands of Sumatra and Borneo. In India, the species has been documented in Kerala state, specifically from four districts: Ernakulam (Malayatoor), Kollam (Kulathupuzha), Thrissur (Vazhachal), and Thiruvananthapuram (Ponmudi). These Indian records represent the first confirmed occurrence of the species in the country.
