About Thereianthus bracteolatus (Lam.) G.J.Lewis

Thereianthus bracteolatus (Lam.) G.J.Lewis is a perennial flowering geophyte that belongs to the genus Thereianthus and is a component of fynbos vegetation. This species is endemic to the Western Cape of South Africa. Its distribution ranges from the Cape Peninsula, eastward across the Hottentots Holland Mountains and Kogelberg, to the coastal mountains near Bredasdorp. The species has lost a portion of its native habitat within the Cape Peninsula, but the remaining habitat in this area is protected within Table Mountain National Park. Some of the species' subpopulations located between Kleinmond and Bredasdorp are currently threatened by invasive plant species.
