About Thelymitra hatchii L.B.Moore
Thelymitra hatchii is a tuberous, perennial herb. It has a single erect, dark reddish green to reddish brown, deeply channelled, very fleshy linear to lance-shaped leaf that is 100โ300 mm (4โ10 in) long and 7โ15 mm (0.3โ0.6 in) wide. Up to eight, sometimes pink flowers that are pale to deep mauve and have no spots or stripes are borne on a flowering stem that sometimes reaches up to 600 mm (20 in) tall. Each flower is 15โ20 mm (0.6โ0.8 in) wide. The arms on the sides of the column have prominent, dense tufts of orange or yellow hairs; white or pink hairs occur rarely. The lobe on top of the anther is usually dark red with two pointed yellow tips. Flowering occurs from November to March. This thelymitra usually grows in open areas near scrubland or bogs. It is found on the North, South and Stewart Islands.
