Thapsia garganica L., commonly known as Italian thapsia, deadly carrot, or drias plant, is a species of flowering plant in the Apiaceae (carrot) family. This perennial herb is native to the Mediterranean Basin, where its range includes Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. Two subspecies of Thapsia garganica are currently accepted. Thapsia garganica subsp. garganica is distributed across Algeria, Greece, Italy, Libya, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia, and Turkey. Thapsia garganica subsp. messanensis (Guss.) Brullo, Guglielmo, Pasta, Pavone & Salmeri is found exclusively in Sicily.
