About Thalictrum aquilegiifolium L.
Thalictrum aquilegiifolium is a species of flowering plant in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae. Its common names include Siberian columbine meadow-rue, columbine meadow-rue, French meadow-rue, and greater meadow-rue. It is native to regions spanning Europe and temperate Asia, and is naturalized in North America only in New York and Ontario. This herbaceous perennial grows 100 cm (39 inches) tall and 45 cm (18 inches) wide. Its leaves are made up of frilled leaflets that resemble the leaves of aquilegia. In early summer, it produces clusters of fluffy pink flowers arranged in flat-topped panicles. This plant contains the alkaloid thalidisine, a compound also found in other Thalictrum species.
