About Texola elada (Hewitson, 1868)

Texola elada, commonly known as the Elada checkerspot, is a butterfly species that belongs to Nymphalidae, the brush-footed butterfly family. Its geographic range extends from southern Mexico northward to central Texas and central Arizona in the United States. This species has a wingspan measuring 22–32 mm, which is equivalent to 0.87–1.26 inches. Adult Elada checkerspots are active in flight from April through October. The species produces several generations each year. In Texas, the larvae of this butterfly feed on Siphonoglossa pilosella. In Mexico, they have been recorded feeding on a variety of yellow Asteraceae species. Adult Elada checkerspots feed on flower nectar.
