About Tetraneuris argentea (A.Gray) Greene

Tetraneuris argentea, commonly called the perkysue, is a North American plant species belonging to the sunflower family. It grows in the southwestern United States, primarily in Arizona and New Mexico, with additional known populations in Utah, Colorado, and the Texas Panhandle. This species is a perennial herb that grows up to 42 centimeters (17 inches) tall. It forms a branching underground caudex, which can sometimes produce up to 12 above-ground stems. A single plant can produce as many as 30 flower heads. Each flower head holds 8 to 14 yellow ray flowers, which surround 25 to 100 yellow disc flowers.
