About Tephrocactus articulatus (Pfeiff. ex Otto) Backeb.
Tephrocactus articulatus (Pfeiff. ex Otto) Backeb. is a small, shrubby cactus that grows up to 40 centimeters tall and produces white flowers. Its branches are typically formed of around eight segments, with each segment measuring 3 to 15 centimeters long and 3 to 4 centimeters wide. The most notable feature of this species is its spines; when spines are present, they are flat and resemble parchment. The flowers open at end-of-evening nautical twilight, and close shortly after sunrise. For cultivation, propagation is most commonly done through cuttings. Stem segments break away easily and root readily without any special treatment, and this cactus can also be grown from seeds.
