About Teloschistes flavicans (Sw.) Norman

Teloschistes flavicans, commonly called the golden hair-lichen, is a lichenized fungus species belonging to the genus Teloschistes and the family Teloschistaceae. The genus name Teloschistes translates to "split-ends", which refers to the species' finely divided thallus and dense coils that look very similar to brillopads. This widespread fruticose lichen is identifiable by its distinct saffron-colored pigmentation, and it typically grows on rocks and the branches of trees.
