About Tauschia hartwegii (A.Gray) J.F.Macbr.

Tauschia hartwegii (A.Gray) J.F.Macbr. is a species of flowering plant in the carrot family, commonly called Hartweg's umbrellawort. This species is endemic to California, occurring in the Sierra Nevada foothills and parts of the Central Coast Ranges. It grows in habitats including coniferous woodlands and chaparral. It is a perennial herb that reaches 30 centimeters to one meter in height, and its whole structure is covered in short, rough hairs. Its leaves have blades divided into oval leaflets with serrated edges, and each leaf is borne on a long petiole. The inflorescence is a compound umbel made up of yellow flowers, with up to 30 unequal rays that each measure 2 to 12 centimeters long. Its fruit is somewhat rounded, ribbed, and less than one centimeter long.
