Etymology
It was named in honor of Charles Livingstone, brother of David Livingstone.
General Distribution Range
This species is found across the subtropical lowlands of southeastern Africa.
Detailed Distribution Locations
It has an isolated population located in Burundi; outside of this isolated population, it occurs from southern Tanzania to eastern and southern Malawi, eastern Zimbabwe, across wide areas of Mozambique, and along the subtropical coast of South Africa.
Similar Species Traits
In both appearance and behavior, Livingstone's turaco shares many traits with the South African Knysna turaco, and with Schalow's turaco, which replaces this species in the plateau regions west of its range.
