Tarucus sybaris, commonly known as the dotted blue, is a butterfly species that belongs to the family Lycaenidae. This species is native to and found in southern Africa. Males of Tarucus sybaris have a wingspan ranging from 22 to 26 millimeters, while females have a wingspan ranging from 20 to 27 millimeters. Adult dotted blue butterflies are active throughout the entire year, with their population peak occurring between November and March. The larvae of this butterfly feed on plants from the Ziziphus genus, specifically including Ziziphus zeyheriana and Ziziphus mucronata.
