Tarkas is a genus of jumping spiders that belongs to the family Salticidae. Only one species from this genus has been formally described: Tarkas maculatipes. This species is distributed in Mexico and Guatemala. The genus gets its name from the character Tars Tarkas, who appears in Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel A Princess of Mars.
