About Tarbinskiellus portentosus (Lichtenstein, 1796)

Tarbinskiellus portentosus (Lichtenstein, 1796) is the type species of the Asian cricket genus Tarbinskiellus. This genus belongs to the tribe Gryllini and the subtribe Brachytrupina. Due to the size and shape of this species' head, it was classified within the African genus Brachytrupes for many years. Confirmed records of this species come from India, China, Indochina, and Malesia, and it is known as Gangsir in Indonesia.
