About Tanacetum cinerariifolium (Trevis.) Sch.Bip.
Tanacetum cinerariifolium (Trevis.) Sch.Bip. is a species of flowering plant in the aster family, Asteraceae. It was formerly classified in the genus Pyrethrum; some biologists currently place it in the genus Chrysanthemum, while others place it in the genus Tanacetum. This species is commonly known as Dalmatian chrysanthemum or Dalmatian pyrethrum, names that reflect its origin on the western coastal Balkan Peninsula, where its natural range extends from Dalmatia to Albania. Compared to other plants formerly grouped as pyrethrums, it more closely resembles the common daisy in appearance. Its flowers, which are typically white with yellow centers, grow from numerous fairly rigid stems. The plant produces blue-green leaves and reaches a mature height between 45 and 100 cm (18 to 39 inches). This species poses safety risks for some people: it can trigger severe allergic reactions. Prolonged contact with its dried flowers may cause allergic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, and asthma.
