About Tagiades litigiosa Möschler, 1878
Description of the male: Upper side. Forewing is black, usually more densely black than in Tagiades menaka. Markings are similar except for two extra spots: one below the cell spot at the origin of vein 5, and the other in the middle of the first median interspace. This arrangement places the four spots (including the sub-costal spot) into a slightly curved line. On the hindwing, the white area is generally smaller than in T. menaka; marginal spots are similar, and the two black spots that lie within the white area are absent. Underside. Forewing is paler, with the same markings as on the upper side. Hindwing is similar to the underside of T. menaka, with larger black spots. Palpi, legs, head, and body both above and below are similar to those of T. menaka. The female is similar to the male. The semi-hyaline spots on the forewing and the black spots on the hindwing are larger. The two large black spots on the inner side of the black apical band lie half inside the white space, just as in the female of T. menaka. The larvae feed on Dioscorea oppositifolia, Dioscorea alata and Smilax species.
