About Tagiades flesus (Fabricius, 1781)

Tagiades flesus (Fabricius, 1781) has a wingspan of 35–47 mm (1.4–1.9 in) in males and 43–49 mm (1.7–1.9 in) in females. The upper surface of its wings is brownish, with translucent spots located near the apex of the forewings. These spots are larger in females than in males. The undersurface of the hindwings is white, marked with a semicircle of irregular black spots. The winter form of this species is lighter in colour than the summer form. This species occurs in forest areas from the Eastern Cape of South Africa, through Eswatini to the border of Zimbabwe, and it is also found in Western Africa.
