About Tagetes micrantha Cav.

Tagetes micrantha Cav., commonly called licorice marigold, is a North American wild marigold species in the family Asteraceae. It is widespread across much of Mexico, ranging from Chihuahua to Oaxaca, and also occurs in the southwestern United States, specifically in Arizona, New Mexico, and western Texas. This species is an annual herb that can grow up to 35 cm (14 inches) tall. Its leaves reach up to 35 mm (1.4 inches) in length, are pinnately compound, and have very narrow leaflets. The plant typically produces only one flower head per stem; each head usually has no ray florets, though it may occasionally have 1 or 2, and it always has 5 to 6 disc florets. Its blooming period runs from August to September. It grows in disturbed sites as well as open woodlands with scattered pines and junipers.
