About Taeniotes scalatus (Gmelin, 1790)
Taeniotes scalatus (Gmelin, 1790) is a species of nocturnal flat-faced longhorn beetle. Adults of this species reach a body length of 30–40 millimetres (1.2–1.6 in). Their basic body color is black, marked with a yellow dorsal streak and small spots. Known larval host plants for this species include cultivated figs (Ficus carica), Artocarpus altilis, Artocarpus integrifolius, Brosimum utile, Castilla elastica, Morus alba, and Coffea arabica. These beetles can be found active throughout the entire year, with highest occurrence from March to June. This species is very common and widely distributed across the Azores, the Nearctic realm, Mexico, Central America, and northern South America; documented localities include Belize, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Venezuela.
