It is native to Mexico, Central America, and the northwestern South American countries of Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. This species is similar to Tabernaemontana donnell-smithii, with the following key differences: Tabernaemontana glabra has larger leaves and larger flowers, and smaller fruit.
