About Syzygium moorei (F.Muell.) L.A.S.Johnson

Syzygium moorei is a canopy tree that grows in subtropical rainforests. It can reach 40 metres in height, with a trunk up to 60 centimetres wide. Its bark ranges in colour from grey, to fawn, to reddish. The base of the tree is not buttressed, though some larger individuals develop flanges at the base. Compared to other myrtle species native to New South Wales, its leaves are unusual: they are large, thick, and heavy, measuring 8 to 20 centimetres long, and end in a short blunt point at the tip.
