Description: The wingspan of adult Syricoris lacunana ranges from 16 to 18 millimetres (0.63–0.71 in). Its forewings display multiple shades of gray-brown, crossed by several thin, irregular silvery lines. Fully grown caterpillars reach a length of approximately 15 millimetres (0.59 in), and their body color ranges from brown to dark brown. This moth species is quite variable in appearance, and can be mistaken for several related species: Olethreutes obsoletana, Celypha doubledayana, and Orthotaenia undulana. Distribution: Syricoris lacunana is found throughout Europe, across most northern countries of the eastern Palearctic realm, and also in the Near East.
Habitat: This very common species occurs in hedgerows, open fields, and woodland edges.
