About Synurus deltoides (Aiton) Nakai
Synurus is a genus of flowering plants in the tribe Cardueae within the family Asteraceae. All currently recognized species of this genus are native to Asia. Members of the Synurus genus have thick stems that can grow up to 1.5 meters tall. They produce large, nodding, spherical flower heads that reach up to 6 centimeters wide, and these flower heads hold purple florets. The anti-inflammatory properties of Synurus species, which are used as herbal remedies, have been well researched. In Korea, these plants are also consumed as a wild vegetable.

Synurus excelsus (Makino) Kitam. is found in Japan and Korea. Synurus palmatopinnatifidus (Makino) Kitam. is found in Japan and Korea. Synurus pungens (Franch. & Sav.) Kitam. is found in Japan. One species previously placed in the genus Synurus, Synurus diabolicus, has been reclassified and is now known as Olgaea lomonossowii, which is part of the related genus Olgaea.
