About Synopsia sociaria (Hübner, 1799)
Synopsia sociaria is a moth species that belongs to the family Geometridae. Its range extends from the southern portion of central Europe to western Central Asia. To the north, its distribution reaches from the North Sea coast through the Baltic region into Russia. The subspecies S. sociaria unitaria occurs in the Caucasus. This moth has a wingspan of 28 to 34 millimeters. In the southern areas of its range, adults produce two generations per year, and are active on the wing from the end of March to the beginning of June, and again from the beginning of July to the beginning of October. North of the Alps, there is only one generation of adults per year, which are on the wing from July to August.
