About Synemosyna formica Hentz, 1846
Synemosyna formica is a species of ant-mimicking jumping spider first described by Hentz in 1846. This species is distributed in the eastern United States and parts of Canada. To mimic ants, it holds its first pair of legs elevated to imitate ant antennae. This differs from other ant-mimicking spiders, such as those in the genus Synageles, which use their second pair of legs for this mimicry.
