About Synaxis jubararia (Hulst, 1886)

This species, originally published as Synaxis jubararia (Hulst, 1886), is currently classified as Tetracis jubararia. It is commonly called the October thorn moth, and is a moth species in the Geometridae family. It is found in North America; see the subspecies section for more details. The forewings of this moth measure between 17 and 26 mm in length. For the jubararia subspecies, adult moths are in flight from mid-August to late November, with timing varying based on location and elevation. For the sericeata subspecies, adults are on wing from September to mid-November. Recorded host plants for jubararia subspecies larvae are Alnus, Betula, Cornus, Populus, Ribes, Prunus subcordata, Salix, Picea glauca, Picea engelmanni, Pseudotsuga menziesii, and Thuja.
