About Symphytum asperum Lepech.

Symphytum asperum is a flowering plant belonging to the genus Symphytum in the family Boraginaceae. Its common names are rough comfrey and prickly comfrey. It is the tallest species in the Symphytum genus. This species is native to Asia, and is present in Europe and North America as an introduced species that sometimes grows as a weed. A naturally occurring hybrid between Symphytum asperum and common comfrey, Symphytum officinale, is Symphytum × uplandicum, which is the most economically important type of comfrey.
