About Symphyotrichum adnatum (Nutt.) G.L.Nesom

Symphyotrichum adnatum is a perennial herbaceous cespitose flowering plant that grows to heights between 30 and 120 centimeters, which is 1 to 4 feet. Each individual plant produces five or more brown hairy stems, which can grow either erect or sprawling. The stems bear thick, firm yellow-green leaves with smooth margins. This species blooms from October through December. Its flowers have 10 to 20 dark lavender ray florets and 12 to 25 yellow disk florets. S. adnatum is native to the Bahamas and the southeastern United States, specifically the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. It grows at elevations up to 100 meters (330 feet) in scrubland and woodland habitats with sandy soils.
