About Suillus mediterraneensis (Jacquet. & J.Blum) Redeuilh
Suillus mediterraneensis is an edible mushroom species belonging to the genus Suillus. It is found in coniferous forests in Europe, where it forms mycorrhizal relationships with two-needled pine species: Pinus halepensis, P. pinea, and P. pinaster. Originally described under the name Boletus mediterraneensis in 1969, this species was formally transferred to the genus Suillus in 1992. It resembles the related species Suillus granulatus, but can be distinguished by its yellowish flesh, which is not white like that of S. granulatus.
