About Stylidium productum Hindm. & Blaxell

Stylidium productum, formally described as Stylidium productum Hindm. & Blaxell, is a small plant native to eastern Australia. It is common in the Sydney region, where it grows in soils formed from Hawkesbury sandstone. Its flowers bloom in spring and summer; each flower has five pink petals, though one petal is very small. Stylidium productum has an unusual method of pollination. When an insect lands on the flower, the style and two anthers strike the insect, and the insect is then showered with pollen.
