About Stylidium ornatum S.T.Blake
Stylidium ornatum S.T.Blake is a dicotyledonous plant in the genus Stylidium of the family Stylidiaceae. This species is herbaceous, and it can be either an annual or perennial plant. It grows to a height between 10 and 30 centimeters tall. Each individual plant produces between 5 and 25 oblanceolate leaves. If the plant has no stems, the leaves form a basal rosette. If plant stems are present, the leaves form terminal rosettes instead. The leaves of this species generally range from 13 to 37 millimeters in length, and 3 to 10 millimeters in width. Each plant of this species produces between 1 and 4 scapes. Its inflorescences grow 12 to 30 centimeters long, and bear pink flowers. In the species' native range, these pink flowers bloom throughout the entire year. Stylidium ornatum is endemic to Queensland and New South Wales. Its typical reported habitat is sandy soils in heathland, or "wallum" growing on waterlogged coastal sands. This species is closely related to Stylidium debile. Its conservation status has been assessed as secure.
