About Strophanthus boivinii Baill.

Strophanthus boivinii grows as a deciduous shrub or small tree, reaching up to 30 metres (100 ft) in height, with a trunk bole diameter that can reach up to 40 centimetres (16 in). Its flowers have a corolla tube that is yellow-orange when it first forms and turns reddish-brown as it matures. This species is endemic to Madagascar. It grows in deciduous forests and thickets, at altitudes ranging from sea level up to 800 metres (2,600 ft). Local communities use Strophanthus boivinii in traditional medicine to treat gonorrhoea, colic, wounds, and itches.
