About Streptanthus hyacinthoides Hook.

Streptanthus hyacinthoides Hook. is an annual herb that can grow up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. Its leaves are sessile or nearly sessile, shaped from linear to lanceolate. Most of its leaves grow along the stem, and they reach up to 6 inches (150 mm) in length and 2.75 inches (70 mm) in width. The radially symmetrical actinomorphic flowers are grouped into crowded racemes. Individual flowers measure 1 inch (25 mm) across, and each flower is attached by a pedicel 0.5 inches (13 mm) long. The sepals are purple, and each flower has four petals that are either purple or white with purple veins. The seeds are ovoid, and are roughly 0.065 inches (1.7 mm) long by 0.045 inches (1.1 mm) wide.
