Stipa borysthenica Klokov ex Prokudin is a perennial bunchgrass. It can be told apart from related species by characteristics of its leaves: these have shorter, sparser hair tufts, or are completely hairless (glabrous) at their apex. The sheaths of the plant’s upper leaves have a rough, scabrid texture. The lemma of this species measures between 21 and 22 mm. This species is native to eastern and east central Europe, as well as Iran, Kazakhstan, and Russia. Its native range specifically includes the countries of Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Ukraine, Yugoslavia, Poland, and Romania.
