Its inflorescences are racemes, with a 5-lobed calyx that reaches up to 12 mm in diameter; the outer surface of the calyx is green, while the inner surface is purple-red.

Flowering occurs toward the end of the dry season, between February and April.

The fruit is a sessile, oblong follicle, 6–10 cm long, grey-green or brown in color, and contains many seeds.

This species occurs from Senegal eastward to Sudan and Ethiopia, and also grows in Angola.
