Stenorrhina degenhardtii is a medium-sized snake that can reach a total length of 65 centimeters, or 26 inches, when fully grown, including the tail. This snake species is found in the Mexican states of Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Veracruz; the Central American countries of Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama; and the South American countries of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its preferred natural habitats are forest and savanna, ranging in elevation from sea level up to 2,800 meters (9,200 feet), and individuals have also been recorded living in agricultural areas. Stenorrhina degenhardtii reproduces by laying eggs, which is known as being oviparous. Its typical clutch size is between 11 and 12 eggs.
