About Stenocactus obvallatus (DC.) A.Berger

Stenocactus obvallatus (DC.) A.Berger is a spherical cactus that features numerous wavy blue-green ribs; it typically has 30 to 40 ribs, and usually fewer than 50 total. Its white areoles bear 5–12 greyish-brown spines. This cactus normally flowers during spring, and produces pale yellow to pale pink flowers with a purplish-red stripe that reach 2 cm (0.79 in) in size. It grows best in full sun and requires a minimum temperature of 10 °C (50 °F). In the wild, Stenocactus obvallatus is distributed across the Mexican states of Aguascalientes, Durango, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, México State, Oaxaca, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, and Tamaulipas.
