About Stellaria crispa Cham. & Schltdl.
Stellaria crispa Cham. & Schltdl. is a species of flowering plant in the Caryophyllaceae family, commonly known by the common names curled starwort and crisp starwort. It is native to western North America, ranging from Alaska south to California and Wyoming. In this region, it grows in moist, shady habitats including deep forests and streambanks. It is a rhizomatous perennial herb that forms a mat of prostrate or trailing stems, which reach up to roughly 40 centimeters (16 inches) in length. The stems are lined with opposite pairs of pointed oval leaves, each 1 to 2 centimeters (0.4 to 0.8 inches) long. Single flowers grow from the leaf axils, each carried on a short pedicel. Each flower has five pointed green sepals, each a few millimeters long. While some flowers have one or more petals, most do not have petals.
