Depth Range
This fish is native to the Indo-Pacific region, where it occurs at depths reaching up to 5 meters (16 feet).
Geographic Distribution
Its native geographic range stretches from the East African coast and the Red Sea east to the Line Islands, Society Islands, Ryukyu Islands, and Bonin Islands, and also includes New Caledonia, Tonga, and Micronesia.
Territorial Behavior
It is a highly territorial fish that chases other fish away from its garden of filamentous algae.
