About Stanleya elata M.E.Jones
Stanleya elata M.E.Jones is a species of flowering plant in the Brassicaceae family, commonly known as Panamint princesplume. It is native to the desert mountains of eastern California and western Nevada, where it grows in rocky and scrubby habitats. It may also be found growing in Arizona. This is a perennial herb that produces one or more erect stems that reach a maximum height of around 1.5 meters. The stems are hairless and often have a waxy texture. The thick, leathery leaves have lance-shaped or oblong blades with smooth or toothed edges, and grow up to 15 centimeters long. These leaves are borne on petioles. The upper part of the stem holds a long inflorescence, a dense, snaking raceme that contains many flowers. Each flower has four narrow, threadlike petals that are yellow or whitish; each petal is about one centimeter long and one millimeter wide. The plant produces fruit in the form of a long, thin, wormlike silique that can reach 10 centimeters in length. The silique contains tiny seeds.
