Stachys rugosa Aiton is a species of perennial herb that belongs to the genus Stachys. This species is distributed across Southern Africa. Its range extends from Namibia and Namaqualand, through the Karoo, into regions including Fynbos, Succulent Karoo, and Nama Karoo, and continues as far as Lesotho. Within South Africa, it occurs in the Cape Provinces and the Free State. It grows in grassland biomes at altitudes between 180 and 2900 meters above sea level.
