About Stachys bullata Benth.
Stachys bullata Benth. is a species of mint that grows an erect stem reaching up to roughly 80 centimeters in height. The entire stem is covered in a mix of rough, soft hairs, some of which are glandular. Its leaves are also hairy and glandular, growing up to 18 centimeters long, and arranged in opposite pairs along the stem. The inflorescence, which is hairy and glandular, consists of interrupted clusters, each holding six individual flowers. Each flower has a tubular pink corolla up to one centimeter long, held within a hairy calyx made of sepals. This plant is endemic to California. It occurs in the Central Coast Ranges, the Transverse Ranges, and other coastal mountain ranges in the central and southern sections of the state. It also grows in maritime coastal habitats, including the canyons of the Channel Islands.
