About Spyridium thymifolium Reissek

Spyridium thymifolium Reissek is a shrub that typically grows to around 50 centimeters (20 inches) in height. It has slender branchlets covered in white or rust-colored, woolly hairs. Its leaves range from egg-shaped to almost round, measuring 7โ€“20 mm (0.28โ€“0.79 in) long and 4โ€“15 mm (0.16โ€“0.59 in) wide, with brownish-black stipules at the base. The upper surface of the leaves is glabrous, while the lower surface is covered in greyish, woolly hairs. The flower heads are 4โ€“9 mm (0.16โ€“0.35 in) in diameter, covered in woolly hairs. They are surrounded by 2 to 3 more or less round, white, velvety floral leaves, and have dark brown bracts at the base. Flowering takes place from September to February. This species is found in the Southern Lofty and Kangaroo Island botanical regions of south-eastern South Australia.
