It is a bird species that belongs to the family Thraupidae. This species breeds in southern Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay, and migrates north to Bolivia, the Pantanal, and central Brazil. Its natural habitats include dry savanna, subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, and pastureland. It faces threats from habitat loss.
