About Spiranthes longilabris Lindl.

Spiranthes longilabris Lindl. individuals grow 15 to 50 centimeters tall. They produce 3 to 5 basal leaves, which may be present or absent when the plant is flowering. Between 10 and 30 white to creamy white flowers are arranged in a spiral around the plant’s stem. The inside of the flower lip is yellow. Compared to other Spiranthes species, this species has a longer lip, and its two lateral sepals spread outwards. It blooms from October to December. This species occurs in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. It grows within the coastal plain at elevations no higher than 50 meters, inhabiting both dry and moist grasslands, as well as woodland.
