Spiranthes laciniata (Small) Ames is a tall species of orchid in the Spiranthes genus. Plants grow 20 to 95 cm tall, with up to five basal leaves that remain alive through flowering. Its flowers range in color from white to cream-white, and are arranged in a spiral pattern along the stem. The central portion of the flower lip is usually yellow. Its blooming period runs from May to September; September is the end of bloom time in its northern range. This species is native to the southeastern coastal plains of the United States, growing along the coast from southern Texas north to New Jersey. It is a wetland plant that inhabits swamps and marshes, and sometimes grows even in standing water.
