About Spiranthes brevilabris Lindl.

Spiranthes brevilabris Lindl. is an orchid species that grows 7–40 cm tall. When flowering, plants typically have 3 to 5 basal leaves. Its flowers are arranged in a spiral around the stem, and range in color from creamy white to ivory yellow. The inner surface of the flower lip is yellow. This species blooms from February to April. It currently occurs in Florida and Texas. There are historic records of it growing in Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, and Alabama, but the species is assumed to be extirpated in these four states. It grows in wet pine savannas, moist meadows, and moist roadsides.
