About Spiraea chamaedryfolia L.
Spiraea chamaedryfolia L. is a shrub that grows between 1 and 1.5 meters (3 feet 3 inches to 4 feet 11 inches) tall. Its branchlets are brownish or red-brown in color. It bears simple, oblong or lance-shaped leaves with toothed edges; these leaves measure 40 to 60 millimeters (1.6 to 2.4 inches) long and 10 to 30 millimeters (0.39 to 1.18 inches) wide, and grow from 4 to 7 mm long petioles. Its white flowers are 6 to 9 mm in diameter, and form spikelike clusters at the ends of branches. This species flowers from May through September. It is native to mixed forests and forest clearings in Southeastern Europe and Asia, including China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, and Russia. It grows at elevations between 600 and 1,000 meters (2,000 to 3,300 feet) above sea level.
