About Spilosoma dubia Walker, 1855

Spilosoma dubia, commonly known as the dubious tiger moth, is a species of moth in the family Erebidae. It was first described by Francis Walker in 1855. This moth is distributed from southeastern Canada, extending west to Alberta, and is also found in the eastern United States. Its native habitats are aspen parkland and southern boreal forests. The wingspan of adult dubious tiger moths measures 32 to 38 mm. Adults are active in flight from mid-May to mid-June. The larvae of this species have been recorded feeding on Prunus serotina.
