About Spiloloma lunilinea Grote, 1873

Spiloloma is a monotypic moth genus that belongs to the family Erebidae. The genus contains only one species: Spiloloma lunilinea, which is commonly known as the moon-lined moth. This species occurs in eastern and south-central North America. Both the genus Spiloloma and its single species Spiloloma lunilinea were first described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1873. The wingspan of this moth ranges from 44 to 54 mm (1.7 to 2.1 in). Adult moths are active and can be found in flight from April to August each year. The larvae of Spiloloma lunilinea feed on Gleditsia triacanthos.
